LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Jerry Carnahan, Executive Vice President, Field Operations, Farmers Insurance, has announced the appointment of Rick Shriver, currently Vice President of Commercial Marketing, to the position of Senior Vice President Field Operations, Southwest Zone. The Zone includes the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Mr. Shriver joined Farmers in May 1986 as a Sales management trainee out of the Colorado Springs, Colorado regional office. In February 1988 he assumed the position of Sales Administration Manager and in June 1989, he was promoted to Denver Division Agency Manager. He next served as Milwaukee Division Marketing Manager and Marketing Education Manager in Aurora, Ill. In September 1994, he became Minnesota North Division Marketing Manager, a position he held until he transferred to California as Sales Manager in September 1999. A year later, Mr. Shriver was named Southern California Marketing Manager, a title he held until he was promoted to Executive Director—Washington, which became effective on Jan. 1, 2001. In November 2005, he was promoted to Vice President—Commercial Marketing.
A native of South Dakota, Mr. Shriver holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from the University of South Dakota. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) certification. He resides in Stevenson Ranch, Calif.
