Farmers Insurance® Donates Additional $50,000 to National First Responders Fund

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2020) – As part of the organization’s longstanding commitment to recognize and support first responders, Farmers Insurance® donated $50,000 to the National First Responders Fund to help finance programs addressing specific needs related to first responders and their families, including post-traumatic stress treatment, critical incident support, outreach and activation. The insurer’s latest contribution is in addition to a previous donation of $150,000 earlier this year to help support the nonprofit organization and its mission.

"At Farmers®, we consider it an honor to support first responders whose invaluable efforts during critical times of need make a difference in our communities every day," said Ally Saad, director of corporate citizenship for Farmers Insurance. "We’re excited to continue our impactful work with the National First Responders Fund and help give back to those dedicated to serving our communities even in the most difficult circumstances.”

Most recently, Farmers and the National First Responders Fund worked together on the annual National First Responders Stair Climb where the insurer was the presenting sponsor. The event launched in 2017 to help bring awareness and support to first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI). Adapting to a virtual environment this year, participants could choose from a variety of physical activities, like running, walking or swimming, or could "create their own challenge" for an inclusive, adaptable option, to complete the Stair Climb challenge any time between September 11 and October 11.

"First responders are there for us on our worst days, showing up for us in times of need and providing essential services. Farmers Insurance’s continued support of the National First Responders Fund and our work helps us take care of first responders who are taking care of our communities," said Joe Alioto Veronese, co-founder of the National First Responders Fund.

This year’s First Responders Stair Climb participants climbed over 92,000 stairs, walked over 1,000 miles and biked 600 miles to help raise more than $116,000 for the National First Responders Fund’s PTSI program. The program includes treatment of post-traumatic stress (PTS) offsite; education and research identifying minimum standards for best practices in addressing post-traumatic stressors; awareness and de-stigmatization to demystify PTS injuries; and mobilization and outreach by peer support teams related to specific events and tragedies.
