HONOLULU (Sept. 9, 2021) – Farmers Insurance® Hawaii today announced additional support for the Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children, awarding a $5,000 grant for the not-for-profit medical center’s Critical Care Transport program. Farmers Insurance® Hawaii’s funding supports statewide medical transport service, throughout O‘ahu and across the Neighbor Islands, for infants and children in need of lifesaving and specialized care.
“Farmers Hawaii is proud of our longstanding dedication to giving back and helping make a positive impact in our local community,” said Melanie Joseph, marketing manager for Farmers Insurance Hawaii. “We hope our contribution helps strengthen the Critical Care Transport program and enables increased essential emergency care to be administered to those in need across the state.”
Kapi’olani Medical Center’s Critical Care Transport team, which includes nurses and respiratory therapists, have specialized training in neonatal and pediatric transport medicine. In 2019 alone, the team safely transported more than 600 infants and children. The team is relied on for medical transport services, via airplane and/or ambulance, across the state 365 days a year.
This most recent contribution from Farmers follows a $5,000 donation to Kapi‘olani’s Child Passenger Safety program announced earlier this year.
“As we continue on our mission to create a healthier Hawaii, we are grateful for Farmers support of this specialized care, which will help enable us to provide round-the-clock, critical neonatal and pediatric transport care across the entire state when families need it most,” said Dawn Dunbar, senior vice president of Philanthropy for Hawai‘i Pacific Health.
