Agency Owners, Employees, and District Managers Help Serve Meals and Holiday Cheer to Departing Soldiers

Los Angeles, Calif. (November 18, 2014) – Farmers Insurance employees, agency owners, and district managers in Southern California today joined forces with the Bob Hope USO at Los Angeles International Airport to serve hundreds of soldiers heading overseas with a holiday meal before they board their flight. In addition, on behalf of Farmers Insurance, Luisa Acosta-Franco, Head of Multicultural Recruiting and Field Support, presented the Bob Hope USO with a check for $2,500.

“At Farmers Insurance, we have a long legacy and history with the U.S. military,” said Acosta-Franco. “As we carry on the tradition of serving those who serve others, today we were privileged to work alongside members of the Bob Hope USO in giving our active military service men and women a bit of holiday cheer before heading overseas.”

This effort by Farmers Insurance continues a long term commitment by the national insurer to assist current and former members of the military in various ways. With 1-in-4 Farmers Insurance agency owners and district managers being active duty, having previously served, or are a military spouse, Farmers understands and appreciates the special role members of the armed forces play in our nation.  For its commitment to the nation’s military personnel, the company was recently recognized by G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse as one of the top 150 Military Friendly employers in the country.

Additionally, this past July, Farmers Insurance signed a statement of support with the Department of Defense office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), committing to seeking ways to increase opportunities for Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.

  • The Statement of Support confirmed that Farmers Insurance will:
  • Fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA);
  • Provide its managers and supervisors with the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve;
  • Honor the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans; and
  • Continually recognize and support the nation’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war.

Farmers Insurance has a number of opportunities available throughout the U.S. for which veterans may be qualified.  In addition, the national insurer is actively recruiting professionals with military experience for opportunities as agency owners.

Current or soon to be veterans are encouraged to learn more about opportunities with Farmers Insurance by submitting a note of interest to military.recruitment@farmersinsurance.com or visit www.beafarmersagent.com.
