$100,000 Dream Big Teacher Challenge Accepting Proposals through July 31, Teachers Should Enter at ThankAMillionTeachers.com

LOS ANGELES, July 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As America's teachers work on completing their lesson plans for the upcoming school year, Farmers Insurance wants to encourage teachers to include plans to transform their school by winning one of five $100,000 Dream Big Teacher Challenge grants.  In order to be considered, teachers must complete and return the grant application found at www.thankamillionteachers.com by July 31, 2014.

"Farmers Insurance is ready to award five visionary teachers with $100,000 grants each to invigorate education and educators across the country," said Randy Rice, National Manager of Education Programs for Farmers.  "Through this half-million dollar Dream Big Teacher Challenge, we want to show our support for teachers and their transformative ideas.  We also want to encourage the American public to rally around their local teachers to help them in their journey to re-energize education in our communities."

As part of the national Dream Big Teacher Challenge, teachers are invited to submit comprehensive proposals describing their visionary program, implementation plans and timelines, expected outcomes and a detailed budget.  Complete rules and guidelines, as well as downloadable forms are available at thankamillionteachers.com.

The program to award five $100,000 grants is part of the national insurer's Thank A Million Teachers initiative, which launched in late December and continues to encourage people across the nation to submit a "Thank You" to a teacher who has made a positive impact on their lives.  To date, more than 700,000 thank yous have been received on the thankamillionteachers.com web site on behalf of America's teachers.

"Hundreds of thousands of teachers across the country have been recognized since the launch of our program and we encourage everyone to share their heartfelt message of thanks to our educators," said Rice.

The thankamillionteachers.com web site is continuously accepting the public's thank yous and posts a live tally of the number of thank you received so far.

Farmers, through the Thank A Million Teachers program, is also awarding $2,500 grants to teachers through a related award program.  Teacher proposals for this related initiative are being accepted through October 31 for grants that assist educators make an impact in their classrooms.  Additional details and submission requirements are also available at thankamillionteachers.com.
