LOS ANGELES, March 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With the clock ticking before voting ends in five days, Farmers Insurance is urging American's across the nation to continue voting in support of teachers who have submitted proposals for grants of up to $2,500 for their classrooms.  Through these final days of voting, more than 500,000 votes have already been tallied for up to 30 awards that will be funded through the Farmers-led Thank A Million Teachers program.  Voting in support of teacher proposals will continue through March 31.

Farmers Insurance, one of the country's largest multiline insurers, launched the national Thank A Million Teachers initiative to recognize America's teachers for what they do.  Through the first three months of the initiative, the web site has logged more than 315,000 "thank-you"s for teachers nationwide.

As part of the Thank A Million Teachers program, Farmers has also committed to contributing $1 million to teachers and education programs in 2014.

"The voting is going to go down to the wire for and every vote is going to count so we urge all of America vote in support of their favorite teacher projects on www.thankamillionteachers.com/vote-for-a-proposal to help teachers get the funding they seek," said Randy Rice, National Manager of Education Programs for Farmers Insurance.   "While Farmers is excited about the nation's support of America's teachers and the more than half-a-million votes for teacher projects and the 315,000 'thank-you's so far, these final days of voting will be critical."

There are more than 1,200 proposals the public can vote on during March.  Anyone can vote for any proposal, but a person can vote for the same proposal only once per day.  Voting will be open through the end of the month. In all, Farmers will award 30 teachers with grants of up to $2,500 during this round of voting.

"It's easy to vote for a proposal and to thank a teacher at www.thankamillionteachers.com and I know teachers and their students will truly appreciate the support," said Rice.  "I encourage everyone to vote today and then go back the next day and the next to vote for again."
