Farmers Insurance Announces Retirement of Jack Hannigan, Executive Vice President of Independent Agency Operations, at year-end

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- After an impressive 42 years as a leader in the insurance industry, John J. "Jack" Hannigan, executive vice president of independent agency operations for Farmers Insurance Group has decided to retire at the end of the year.

In 1983, Hannigan joined Foremost as vice president of administration and was promoted to senior vice president a year later.  The following year, Hannigan was elected executive vice president of operations with responsibility for the company's information systems, policy operations, corporate facilities and human resources.

Hannigan became executive vice president of agency marketing in 1989 and assumed the added responsibility for corporate marketing in 1991.  Oversight of the claims operation was added in 1997.

Prior to joining Foremost, Hannigan was a member of the CIGNA organization, having served in a number of roles, including vice president of the central region.

Hannigan currently serves as a member of the executive advisory board of the Grand Rapids Children's Museum.  He has also served as a board member of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce and chairperson of the Grand Rapids Chapter of Junior Achievement.

Robert D. Sadler, vice president of independent agency operations at Foremost will replace Hannigan upon his retirement.
