"Farmers is thrilled to be joining with the March of Dimes to bring these exciting events to our local community," said Chanda Sperry, Farmers Northwest ServicePoint® vice president in Oregon. "What better way to spend a day than in the company of others having fun and supporting the March of Dimes mission of giving all babies a healthy start."

All proceeds from the 5K race registrations and Softball Tournament team entries will be donated to the March of Dimes.

"We have already received a number of registrations for the 5K race and the softball tournament but available spots are filling fast and we want to make sure that all interested teams and individuals register by August 31 in order to assure they receive their commemorative t-shirt," said Laurel Gray, director in the Farmers Northwest ServicePoint® office who is overseeing the days' events.

Online registration for the 5K race is available via www.farmerscharity5k.com. Those wishing to register a team for the softball tournament are asked to call Marty Burdick at 503-372-2034 or via e-mail at marty.burdick@farmersinsurance.com.

"Farmers is dedicated to improving the health of babies and events likes these demonstrate to our community, employees and customers, that we care about them and the fight to give all babies a healthy start in life," Sperry added.

Funds raised by this event support lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at giving every baby a healthy start. The March of Dimes, in partnership with Farmers Insurance, is helping to reduce the number of premature babies by funding research to find the answers to premature birth and providing comfort and information to families who are affected.

As the nation's third-largest personal property and casualty insurance group, Farmers is committed to improving the communities where their customers, agents and employees live and work. Farmers' commitment to the March of Dimes spans more than two decades and includes the time and talents of nearly 18,000 employees and 15,500 agents nationwide. Farmers year-round support for the March of Dimes through its agents and employees generates over $4.7 million dollars on behalf of the March of Dimes mission to give moms full-term, healthy pregnancies.
